Guy Duininck: Healing is the Children's Bread

When the Caananite woman came to Jesus seeking deliverance for her daughter, Jesus told her,
"The children's bread is not for the dogs."
He said these words to inform the Canaanite woman that the provision of healing and deliverance was for Gods covenant people, the Jews. It was not a provision available to "outsiders."
Without hesitating, however, the woman responded to Jesus, saying,
"Yes, lord, but even the dogs get crumbs from the master's table."
Astonished by her faith, Jesus told her,
"Woman, you have great faith! Go, your daughter is whole."
Without a promise; without a covenant; and without any encouragement - but WITH faith - this woman secured deliverance for her daughter from the Lord!
What about us ?? We are Gods very own sons and daughters! We don't have to scrounge and sniff around the table begging for an occasional crumb. We sit at our very own Fathers table and eat all that He has provided for us !
Healing IS the children's bread !
