Active Faith - Passive Faith
Throughout the church at large there are what I call Passive-faith Christians and what I call Active-faith Christians.
Passive-faith Christians trust God in general and believe that somehow everything will work out to their good no matter what actually happens or doesn't happen since God loves them, is on the throne, and is in total control of everything. Their faith is that God is in control and, therefore, everything that happens is His will manifested.
Active-faith Christians purposely locate specific promises of God from His Word. They then pray-ask-believe God for those promises for themselves, and hold fast in faith, patience, and thanksgiving for those promises to manifest in their lives. Their faith is in the specific things God has said that pertain to them and don't believe that everything that happens is, in fact, God's will, but that God's will is stated in His Word and must be contended for in faith.
