Guy Duininck: Let Him Who Has Ears And Eyes

Let Him Who has Ears and Eyes

Not all believers hear well or see clearly. Why ? Because they only hear with their natural ears and see with their natural eyes. Consequently, they arrive at conclusions in their natural mind. Functioning only at this level, they often miss what God is saying and showing; they miss what is really going on.

Elisha's servant was afraid because what he was seeing with his natural eyes was a frightening situation. But when his eyes were opened and saw beyond his natural sight, his understanding of the true nature of the situation was radically altered!

Even as far back in time as the book of Job, Elihu knew and said, "There is a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives him understanding." That is why, unlike Job's three wise friends, Elihu could offer Job a "God-answer.

We live in a world that is saturated with sound and visual stimulation. Our eyes and our ears are continually bombarded with information about the world around us.

But In order to truly know what is going on in the world and even, sometimes, what is happening in our own lives, we must listen on another level, our ears tuned to a different source, and look at things with our eyes opened by the Holy Spirit.

It is very helpful at times to close our natural eyes, plug our natural ears, and look with spiritual eyes and listen with our spiritual ears to discover what God is showing and saying by His Word and by His Spirit.
